インターネットが美術を変える 海を隔てたコラボレーションの試み 東京・代田橋の画廊で展示中 A new challenge of artists in the time of Facebook ~ from an exhibition at an art gallery in Daitabashi,Tokyo ~
先日、日刊ベリタで「画家、ジャック・フレッシュミュラー氏、東京に現る 代田橋の画廊で共同展」という記事を書いた。フレッシュミュラー氏の展示会が東京で開かれたことを紹介したものだったが、展示会場の代田橋の画廊で出会った企画者の夫婦から、今回の展示会が少し新しいことに挑戦しているのだ、という話をうかがった。それが何かと言えば3人の画家の共同展なのだが、彼らは初顔合わせであり、それだけでなく、企画者たちとも初めての顔合わせなのだ、という。その経緯について、主催者たちから説明を受けた。それが以下の英文で、その下に付したのは拙訳である。
The other day, I wrote an article titled " Artist ,Jacques Flechemuller visits Tokyo to hold an exhibition with two others from France". When I visited the gallery in Daitabashi,Tokyo, I was told by the planner of this exhibition that they are challenging for a new form of creation and exhibition. In fact , three artists exhibited today haven't met in their real lives , nor with planners. I put the explanation they gave to me.
”In the beginning, there was a famous social network and the virtual meeting of two turbulent web explorers on both sides of the Atlantic. Bertyl Lernoud, a graphic designer and Parisian film director & Jacques Flechemuller, a Franco-American painter. They had never met, but on the advice of a mutual friend (a real one), one “liked” the other on Facebook. After a few exchanges and comments, Bertyl (aka Pierre) Lernoud sent Jacques Flechemuller an image selected from his vast ‘cabinet of graphic curiosities.’”
「事の始まりは大西洋の両岸に生息する2人のインターネット探検家たちがソーシャルサイトで出会ったことにある。出会ったと言っても、インターネットを介して出会ったのだった。出会ったのはパリ在住のグラフィックデザイナーで映画監督のベルティー・ルヌーと、アメリカとフランス両国を股にかけて活動している画家のジャック・フレッシュミュラーである。二人はリアル世界では会ったことがなかった。しかし、二人には共通の「友達」がいたために、Facebookを通して二人は互いに”likes"（いいね）マークを送り合うようになった。こうしてやりとりが進むうちに、ルヌーがフレッシュミュラーに興味本位で自分が収集してきた膨大な画像のコレクションをインターネットでフレッシュミュラー送るようになった。」
” There starts a real ping-pong game between Paris and Brooklyn, bouncing back and forth between several internet users. From this Facebook exchange, an idea was enthusiastically born:
To create a game of “Exquisite Corpse” (Cadavres exquis) between the“Ping”: images from the huge cabinet of graphic curiosity posted day after day by Bertyl aka Pierre Lernoud, and the “Pong”: a graphic response to these images by other artists. This “Ping-Pong” becames the heart of exhibitions where virtual friends can meet in the “real world”, and discover the works of artists they have “LIKED” and followed on the Web.”
「こうしてパリとブルックリン（ニューヨーク）の間でピンポン（卓球）のようなやり取りが行われるようになり、こうしたFacebooを介した通信を経て、あるアイデアが芽生え、それにのめり込むことになった。『美しい死体』と名づけたゲームを始めることである。これはルヌーの莫大な画像のコレクションからいくつかを取り出して芸術家に送り、芸術家がその画像に何等かの手を加え、アレンジしたものにして送り返す。こうしてピンポンによって作品が生まれれば実際の展示会を通してリアルワールドで芸術家たちが出会うことができる。Facebookで『いいね』マークを出していただけの関係から一歩、進展が生まれると言うものだ」
企画した夫婦とはベルティー・ルヌー(Bertyl Lernoud) 氏と妻のMariana Bouhsira 氏である。二人はパリに住んでいてAvant−Retard というグループを結成している。
The planners were Bertyl Lernoud ,designer and film director , and his wife, Mariana Bouhsira.They live in Paris.They set up a group named Avant-Retard.
”The first teleportation took place in Paris, in May 2016 at La Piece Blanche. More than 500 people converged over the three days of the exhibit with Jacques Flechemuller. Most visitors discovering his work in the “real world” for the first time.Then the experiment was repeated. Thanks to our virtual friends, the exhibition traveled to Aywaille (Belgium), Lille (France) and Liege (Belgium) with more than 2,000 people coming to discover Flechemuller’s work !”
「最初の展示はパリで行いました。2016年5月のことで会場は La Piece Blancheです。この時はジャック・フレッシュミュラーと私たち企画者だけでしたが、3日間の展示会に500人以上の人々が足を運んでくれました。多くの人々にとって、これが実際に初めて実物のフレッシュミュラーの絵画を見る体験だったのです。さらに私たちはこうした試みを続けました。インターネットで知り合った人々の支えもあって、展示会はエワイユ（ベルギー）、リール（フランス）、リエージュ（ベルギー）でも行われ、のべ2000人以上の人々がフレッシュミュラーの作品を見るために集まったのです。」
"After this successful experiment, and the numerous testimonies and supporters encouraging us to pursue the adventure, AVANT-RETARD throws another challenge with another artist in June 2017, in Paris. This time : the engraver, sculptor and painter Didier Hamey
In addition to a retrospective of Hamey’s work, nine "Ping-Pong" exchanges were presented. Once again, they were all born from the four-handed game between Bertyl (aka Pierre) Lernoud and Didier Hamey.At the end of November 2017, AVANT-RETARD will present Francis
Deschodt’s "Mazes" and Ping Pong series."
「実験的な試みが成功した後、多くの人々がもっとこの試みを続けるべきだと言って私たちの尻を叩きました。そこで私たち AVANT-RETARDでは2017年6月にパリで新しい芸術家を加えることにしました。エッチング画家・彫刻家・画家のディディエ・アメィです。過去にアメィが作った作品群に加えて、ピンポンによって生まれた9作品を展示しました。つまり、フレッシュミュラーの時と同様にルヌーとアメィの間でコラボレートされたのです。さらに今回、東京での展示に当たってはフレッシュミュラーとアメィに加えて、さらにフランシス・デショットを加えました。デショットのMazes( 迷路あるいは迷宮）という作品シリーズにピンポンで生まれた作品群を合わせたのです」
先述の二人の企画者の話はこういうもので、毎回、臨機応変にやっているようだけれど、インターネット時代に美術はどう変わっていくかを考えさせてくれるものだ。実際にFacebook上で膨大な美術作品群が日々、公開されているし、仲間同士で評価しあっている。その意味ではFacebook自体がすでに国境を越えた空想の美術館となっているのである。しかし、その一方で作品を介して出会った人々がリアルな世界で出会うことはまだまだ限られている。さらに美術家としては職業人としてどう生活をしていく売り上げを作るか、ということも切実な課題になるはずである。それが巨大な多国籍企業のような1人の巨匠が莫大な観客をおさえて量販する、という美術界での格差の拡大にならなければよいのだが。その意味ではこうした試みはさらなる発展の余地があるようにも感じられる。
It is what planners thought. They continue a series of exhibition created through " Ping Pong " (communication like table tennis ) with maximum flexibility. This challenge gives me an experience which makes me think about the art in the time of internet and social media.
In fact, on a daily basis, I see a .lot of new art works through social media like Facebook. We share works and we put our feeling and thoughts ,sometimes critic on the social media. In this sense , it is already a kind of museum , a sort of museum of imagination. But in our real lives, we don't have much occasion to meet each other. Moreover artists don't have much occasion to get income from social media or internet communication. I think this challenge has a lot of space for development but we don't hope someone like Piccasso grabs all the audiences and consumers in the world exclusively like giant multi national corporation. In this context , this activity may have some risks in the future as well as big possibility for better environment of artists.
