Right-wing group held an exclusion demonstration calling for the repatriation of Kurds

On the afternoon of 28 April, 50 people from the right-wing group Japan First Party demonstrated in Warabi City, Saitama Prefecture, demanding the deportation of Kurds living in Japan, while about 50 citizens' groups opposed to discrimination against foreigners surrounded them. The two groups voiced their opinions to each other while about 20 police officers were restricted, and the residential area became noisy.
Members of the Japan First Party marched with messages such as 'Deport illegal Kurds' in their hearts. The opposition to the demonstration countered with messages such as "Don't let them through (NO PASARAN)", a message that has been used in the fight against fascists in the Spanish Civil War and other conflicts.
The Japan First Party is headed by Makoto Sakurai, former head of the Citizens' Circle for No Privilege for Foreigners in Japan, and has held rallies in Warabi City and elsewhere calling for the deportation of Kurds.
According to a man in his 50s who participated in the anti-demonstration march side, "Japan First Party was calling for a demonstration via the internet, so we also called for a counter-demonstration and gathered here.
As of March 2024, Warabi City, Saitama Prefecture, has a total population of 75,907, of which 8,720 are foreigners. They account for 11.5% of the city's population, making it the municipality with the highest density of foreigners in Japan. In addition to Chinese, Vietnamese, Filipinos and others, Warabi City is also known as 'Warabistan' due to the large number of Kurds living in the city, who are engaged in demolition at construction sites in Tokyo and elsewhere.
