エジプトのカイロで暮らしているロシア人のデザイナー、ヘザー・ハーミット（Heather Hermit)さんは路上で死にかけた猫を見つけました。今回は家で飼っている二匹の猫の話ではありません。以下は、彼女が路上で観察した記録です。
Her paw is wounded and she has ringworm. All her family died of hunger and bad living conditions. She is the only one who survived. She is still a kitten and she is very sick.
子猫の手には傷があり、皮膚病にもかかっていました。子猫の家族はみな飢餓と厳しい生存環境のせいで滅びてしまったのです。
This cat was born near the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo not far from the Egyptian Pyramids. First when I found her near the garbage I thought she's dead, she was neither moving nor breathing, totally dehydrated and very skinny.
この子猫はカイロにあるエジプト大博物館の近くで生まれました。ピラミッドから遠くありません。最初に私が子猫を見つけたのはゴミ捨て場の近くでした。子猫は身動き一つせず、息もしていないようでした。脱水症状に陥っており、痩せこけていたのです。
When she saw food she started crawling towards it and started eating. I am trying to feed her every day and cure her. She is still in the street near the museum.
子猫は私が差し出した食べ物を見ると、這って近づいてきました。そして、食べ始めたのです。私は毎日、子猫にエサをやって治療を試みています。子猫は今も博物館の近くの路上で生きています。
